Survey Summary

As I mentioned earlier, I made  survey regarding this topic, so I'd like to summarize what I found out from the results.
So far my respondents are mainly female Japanese students, so it seems that many of them attach great importance on Japanese voice actors (including me!). It's very interesting that about a half claims that anime violence doesn't  leads people to become aggressive, and we should respect freedom of expression (including violent scenes).

  1. Thanks for giving a preliminary report on your survey's results. By the way, I found an article that may be a good source for you in the AGU Library Database. The title of the article is "The Cultural Context and the Interpretation of Japanese ‘LolitaComplex’ Style Anime," but there is a section that deals with violence and anime (pages 55, 56). The article appeared in Intercultural Communication Studies XXIII: 2 (2014). The connection has been made by British commentators between sexual violence against women and girls and violent anime, such as ‘sex and tentacles’. It was also mentioned that when a British woman was killed in Japan in 2007 by a Japanese man the press in Britain implied that violent manga/anime may have been a factor. This led one critic Beauman (2007) to comment, ironically, on the British press reports, “Men don’t kill women, manga does.”

    1. Dear Mr. Dias,
Thank you very much for the information. I think this is a good opportunity for me to use the Library Database. Actually I was surprised to hear that such specific data regardning anime exist at our library! The incident in 2007 is shocking, but it seems that it's surely the reality of influences of anime violence. I'd like to read this article to deepen my knowledge.
